  1. hello i have a question, when i have the drill in hammerdrill mode and the speed setting at 3 after a few seconds of use the drill speed trips from 3 to 2. Would you know why that is ? hoping you can help

  2. I’m a drill idiot. I needed instructions how to tighten the end thingy around the drill bit (in my case a paint stirrer attachment). Didn’t get that part here. It’s not you, it’s me 😂

  3. I bought a DCD999 after years of happiness with the 18V about a year back and I've noticed the torque only works intermittently. I returned the first one I bought for another and it seems to be a design problem – just wondering if this issue is common or if mine are just from a bad batch.

Let's say torque/clutch is set to 1. Minimal resistance should cause the drill to slip. If I set it to 1 and hold the chuck with my hand, it will slip on the first press of the trigger. If I press the trigger again it will turn with full force and not slip. I've learned the hard way a couple times for more delicate work, where I set a low torque setting and turned a screw way too tight when the it refused to slip.

  4. I loved the 18-volt version of this drill. When the 20 Max came out I quickly picked it up and was disappointed that it didn't have an extra bit holder like the 18-volt did. Still a pain in the ass to this day to switch between bits.

  5. I appreciate the advice. This is the first drill set, that I've owned. I'm learning new things everyday. I've never had my own set of cordless tools. I want to be able to minor repairs on my own house. I'm going to get a friend of mine to show me how to install a front door, so I can install future doors, like a new bedroom door. I would never touch the electrical panel, but i would install the Romex for the electrician to install it in the electrical panel. I learned how to lock my bit in the drill.

  6. Upgraded from an older 18v kit. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

  7. I’ve had my DEWALT xl drill for a year now. Drilled 4 holes to put in hinge bolts and the torque clutch feature has already been destroyed and has rendered the drill useless. I would not recommend buying this drill. It breaks too easily.

  8. I just brought a Dewalt DCD796 Compact Hammer Drill Driver, it arrived today.
I thought it was American made, but it's made in China, my heart sank when I saw that…guess what, the chuck wobble is so bad it shakes my hand when using it ! I thought DeWalt was supposed to be good!

  9. I wish you would explain the numbering system if any exists? A newbie, or somebody who has been out of the trade for a long time can be overwhelmed trying to figure out the differences in the model numbers. I have found it confusing to determine light-duty, prosumer, and professional tools.

  10. Such an eye opened for a novice like me. Have been using it all wrong and today while I watch the video, I am blown away! Lol I was so wrong about the settings 😅
    THANK YOU

  11. Been using drill for work going on 20 years, I know what setting I like for doing decking versus screwing in cabinet hinges, but I never thought about it too deeply. Thank you for the very detailed explanation of all of its functions. Dewalt seems to keep me happy from their corded miter saws down to the 20 volt drills👍
