A coffee cup filled with salt does the job for me.
The only issue I have with this spreader is it has never been in stock at any of the 5 nearby Home Depot stores in my area. For some reason this is one of those things I wanna see and purchase in person, not online. I’m just weird like that I guess.
$75 just to do that 😂
How is this essential? A red solo cup and a bag of salt would probably get better distribution of salt.
Every time I need something or design something that I want you literally come out with it a month later I need an engineering job ugh
I've used it this winter and it has a couple of issues.
1. You see the operator shaking the device to make salt+sand fall into the opening? It's really taking a toll on your wrist and arm to swing it like that constantly (is partially a problem with damp content, but still probably could be solved).
2. The opening often locks and the thing leaks content, so you get salt+sand on your floor. Not sure how to fix or clean it up, because it stays locked even if its empty and you try to shake it to somehow unlock it.
3. Battery is unprotected (no cover like in eg. shop vac), and even though I don't remember detaching my smallest battery that I attached to it when it was still clean, somehow sand got into the place between the battery and the battery port and even somehow scratched the battery shaft.
4. Cone limiter also works weirdly (not to mention it limits just the left side). I set it to the minimum (not to damage the car paint) but it still threw sand in its direction even though I additionally shifted the whole device like 45deg to the right (rotated clockwise), which also hurt wrist during usage.
5. Somehow, my pants always get a lot of that salt+sand combo during operation (an even coat at that) so maybe use some protective cloth when you try to use it.
6. Leaving content inside is not recommended, but if it's supposed to be ready for action every time, maybe the next iteration should be prepared for that too?
Other than that, it's a very interesting machine (especially when bundled with the snow shovel for almost free) that speeds up the process a lot.
Not something I need but I'll probably end up with like several of my Ryobi tools, just because they're cool lol.
Ha that's cool
Definitely not essential but ok
