Without this video it was like solving an impossible riddle. Why don't you just stick a link to this video on a QR code in your in box instructions?!! Who in their right mind would think flipping the crank over was even possible without seeing this?!
Thank God for these videos because in no way does it make it clear in the instructions that this is what you do
Such a shame the instructions are so poor you would never figure this out from them. Not the usual high standards Makita
This video only shows the optimistic scenario where the crank stops in an aligned position. In real life this is rarely the case and you will need to align the extremely slippery (greased) crank by hand (or even a pair of tongs as the motor causes the crank to rotate in a stubborn way). Further it would have been wise to point at the fact that also the parts of the hedge trimmer blade (or grass shear) should be in an aligned position prior to fastening the screws. Of course, being a technician myself, I tried to swap between grass shear and hedge trimmer initially without reading the manual. NO WAY! Then, after studying the manual for 5-10 minutes, it was clear that the crank had to be removed but it was not clarified why and how. The crank was greased and very slippery and could not be removed with my fingers (as shown in this video). Finally I used a screwdriver and flipped the crank over and I got the thing working. Here the Makita engineers have gone off the rails developing a product that is too complicated. I very much respect the manual makers of Kärcher and Bosch for making things top-clear within a few drawings without using one word! The Makita grass shear itself is beyond any doubt of top-quality!
There's a guy with a vid who needed to watch this. 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Keep up the good work makita
