Makita AWS™ – Auto-Start Wireless System

Makita takes another step toward a truly cordless job site with Auto-Start Wireless System. AWS™ uses Bluetooth® technology for wireless power-on and power-off communication between the equipped tool and dust extractor. AWS™ is intelligent communication that eliminates cords and excessive noise since the dust extractor runs only when trigger-activated by an AWS™ tool. When the trigger is released, the dust extractor powers-down. The Makita AWS™ dust extractor (XCV08Z) is powered by two 18V LXT® batteries for maximum performance, and users benefit with an expanding AWS™ system that includes cordless tools for concrete, metal and woodworking.

  1. So, you had 4 similar vacuums without aws, all with wet cleaning option, but this one dry only. Why, Makita? Why can't you make one product that fits all needs?
Same with radios. One has bluetooth, second one is splash resistant, third one reads usb sticks etc. WHY?!

  2. Electrical outlets are available 99% of the time. Why would they not make an AWS corded version or at least an adapter… Simple reason – it doesn't sell batteries. This goes for all battery powered tools really. It would be great if one of the majors would lead the way with the concept of battery/plug-in options for everything. Optimized charging while devices are plugged in please. The tech has been around for decades…

  3. I would love to know why I just bought the dxt miter saw and it doesn’t have the aws option that was the reason for buying it. I’m completely disappointed I would send it back but I’m just not willing to go through all of that hassle

  4. At the beginning of the video it shows the xsl06 saw. I have that saw and it is not Bluetooth capable. Are there two versions that I don't know about? (Not talking about corded vs cordless either, I have the cordless)

  5. Makita thank you for producing some killer stuff recently. I'm definitely going to buy the track saw, grinder, and 10" miter. This dust extractor would be perfect if it was made corded/cordless with the ability to detach the cord. Also add ability to attach cyclonic separator and a removable blue tooth on/off button that could be worn like a watch/ring or attached to end of vacuum hose. Awesome tools!!! Keep up the good work!

  6. I'd wish you guys step it up a notch. Milwaukee is leaving us in the dust. Give us more opinions. Like headlamps, tools boxes, hand tools. I'd hate to reinvest in a new brand being I love Makita, but I need more opinions.
