  1. I would love to get into one of these, but there's just no economic case to be made. The price premium over a comparable gas machine would make the break even period so long as to be unacceptable. I can buy a lot of gas and oil, and even pay for servicing, and still come out well ahead. I would need significantly higher gas prices, longer growing season and acreage to even think about it.

    Unless…

The 80v lineup increases significantly and includes bare tool options.

This way you could leverage the batteries across multiple tools. It's why I'm considering the 2 stage snow thrower. It too has a pretty premium over a comparable gas thrower, but the 40v batteries can be leveraged across the entire line. With the maintenance advantage, the scales arguably tip significantly in it's favor.

So in the 80v line I'm imagining buying the tractor and batteries, and supplementing with bare tool push mowers, tillers, brush mowers, walk behind leaf vacuum/chipper, 2 stage snow thrower, etc. The ZT are a non starter for me, but with complementary tools, this tractor would seriously get my interest. As is, I just couldn't justify it.

  2. I also saw a push mower using the 80v system. A nice touch when moving towards the big ones. I don’t have a huge lawn myself but i am impressed by how things are going with Ryobi landscaping tools. I predict, an 80v backpack blower and uh….. don’t have much ideas. Maybe they can just “sidetrack “ and make a 40v/80v ebike/scooter. Also if they can’t find more use for the 80v battery (or I’m the one without ideas) then they should do a similar backpack; like the one that carries various 40v batteries that has a cable that connects to the 40v tools and make a backpack that carries the 80v battery but outputs a cable for the 40v tools. That way it has more uses. 80v pressure washer…. Uhm darn…. Can’t think of more.
